Great Driving, With a Greater Purpose.
Hundreds join Markel BMW Ultimate Drive® to Support Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Markel BMW would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2007 BMW Ultimate Drive® in support of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. During this all-day event on July 24th, hundreds of participants visited Markel BMW to test drive specially decorated luxury BMWs, including this year’s Signature Vehicle, the dynamic X5 SAV. For every mile driven by an Ultimate Drive participant, BMW will donate $1 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Kathy Byrnes, member of the Board of Directors for the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Nebraska, opened the event by thanking Nebraskans for their support. She then introduced this year’s Local Hero, Dr. Robert M. Langdon, Jr., M.D., who remarked on the many lives saved, thanks in part to imaging equipment purchased with funds raised through the Ultimate Drive event.
In addition to the test-drives, participants were treated to breakfast and all-day refreshments, live music featuring a harpist and various vocalists, lunch and an onsite “spa,” where they could relax with massage or manicure.
Visitors could also purchase premium goodie bags for just $25. Provided by Markel, these gifts were valued at more than $75, with all proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
“I’m amazed at how this event continues to grow each year,” said Tony Caputo, Manager of Markel’s Ultimate Automotive Campus. “Markel is proud to be involved with this worthwhile cause, helping to raise money in support of breast cancer research, projects and programs.”
